The Pierced Stool references body piercing and adornment as practices closely tied to queer self-expression, subculture, and desire. Symbolism, ornament, and camp converge in the object, creating an expression of protest and pleasure – or simply something to play nervously with. The design questions both functionalism and ornamentation while playing with the tensions between desire and defiance.
